The Rivers State commissioner for Sports , Chris Green, has called on the leadership of the National Sports Commission to restore public confidence in the national sports festival by discouraging win at home syndrome.
Green who stated this in an exclusive interview with AIT, said the call became necessary, following the multiple discrepancies that greeted the final medals table at the last festival in Asaba, Delta State.
He appealed to the National Sports Commission to also take youth sports more seriously, so as to narrow the vacuum created by ageing or retired athletes.
Chris Green assured that the sports ministry will take advantage of the aquatic facilities in the city centre to develop swimmers that will do the state proud in the future.
