Russia war: UK announces further £350m military support for Ukraine

Britain has disclosed a further £350m of military support to Ukraine as the United Kingdom, UK, and Germany host a meeting of 50 nations in Brussels.
The aid, meant for new drones and the repair of armoured vehicles, is part of a wider package, which includes additional funding from Norway.
UK Defence Secretary John Healey disclosed this amid efforts by concerned countries to “pile pressure” on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war against Ukraine.
The gathering had traditionally been hosted by the US Defence Secretary until Donald Trump became president in January.
Speaking on Friday, Healey said that during the group’s last meeting in February, “all 50 nations said that we would step up further,” promising £1.5bn in aid.
He said, “Today we will pledge billions more.”
The UK Secretary noted that the extra funding the UK government has announced today—£350m, which includes money for new equipment and to repair existing equipment—will help strengthen Ukraine and “boost British business.”
Both Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth are present virtually.
Healey ended by sending a “message to Ukraine”, saying, “We stand with you in the fight and we will stand with you in peace.”
