Senate President Akpabio Appoints Akabueze New Chief Of Staff

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has appointed the outgoing Senate Clerk, Chinedu Akabueze, as the new Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate.

Akabueze will succeed Sylvester Okonkwo, the former Chief of Staff, who has been appointed as the Executive Director of the newly established South East Development Commission.

Akabueze is retiring after serving as Senate Clerk since March 4, 2022, and reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

The National Assembly Service Commission had approved the appointment of Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate, effective December 11, 2024.

The President of the Senate commended Akabueze for his dedication and valuable contributions during the 9th and 10th Senates, particularly in drafting bills and motions.

Akpabio emphasized that Akabueze’s wealth of experience and extensive knowledge should not go unused, acknowledging the significant role he played throughout his service.
