The Nigerian Senate has replaced Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as Chairperson of the Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations.
In her place, Senator Aniekan Bassey, who represents Akwa Ibom North-East, has been appointed.
Senator Bassey’s appointment was announced during Thursday’s plenary by President of the senate Godswill Akpabio, who also hinted at minor shake ups involving vice chairmen of various committees in the coming days.
Senator Natasha, who is currently under suspension from legislative activities, was originally the Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Content.
However the position was withdrawn and reassigned first to the Diaspora and NGO Committee, which she has now lost as well.
