Sokoto State Government has so far constructed and inaugurated over 80 township roads within Sokoto metropolis alone.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu stated this at the flag-off of the 1,068-kilometre Illela-Badagry Road project awarded by the Federal Government.
The Governor said an additional 41 township roads are currently being constructed in Sokoto North and South Local Government Areas.

He said his administration is determined to ensure that Sokoto township roads are pothole-free. It will be recalled that all major township roads were in very bad condition, and begging for attention when Governor Aliyu assumed office on May 29 last year.
On rural roads, Governor Aliyu said a number of inter-local government and rural roads have been completed while contracts have been awarded for others covering 168.88 kilometres of asphalt and 187 kilometres of feeder roads across the state.
He noted that the projects are meant to open up remote areas and provide them access to urban centres especially during harvest seasons.
