Suspected bandits ambush and kill vigilantes, hunters in Bauchi State

Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that suspected bandits have ambushed And killed Local Vigilantes and professional hunters while on their routine patrol at Mansur village in Alkaleri local government of Bauchi state.

A press statement issued by the Spokesperson of the state police command, Ahmed Wakili, said the Command received a report from Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters regarding the incident which occurred about 05:40 in the morning.

According to the statement the confrontation resulted in numerous casualties on both sides, including members of the vigilante group and the bandits themselves.

Police said upon receiving the report, a team of operational tactical teams was dispatched to the scene and they recovered bodies of casualties.

Preliminary investigations according to the police revealed that the deceased include both quasi-security operatives and civilians from Sabuwar Sara village who were shot by the bandits while attempting to flee from the attack.

The number of casualties involved in the incident is not yet known.

Bauchi police Command has mandated a specialised team to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for this heinous act.
