Suspected generator thief arrested in Makurdi

A young man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a generator in the Welfare Quarters area of Makurdi, Benue State.
The incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, 29 April 2025.
Residents of the area reported that generator thefts have become increasingly frequent, often going unnoticed until power is unexpectedly cut off.
In many instances, locals initially assumed their generators had simply run out of fuel, only to later discover they had been stolen.
“One more thief was caught this morning in Welfare Quarters, Makurdi, for stealing a generator,” a resident said. “Fortunately, the vigilante group intervened. He’ll face serious consequences, but unlike others before him, he’ll get a proper trial instead of jungle justice.”
The suspect is expected to be handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
