Terror attacks: China cautions India, Pakistan amid tension

The Chinese government has urged India and Pakistan to proceed with caution following the recent terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
The attack on 22 April, which claimed at least 26 lives and left many more injured, has heightened tensions in the region.
Exchanges between Indian and Pakistani troops have continued, with both sides trading words and threats in the aftermath of the incident.
On Tuesday, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that harmonious coexistence between the two nations is essential for regional peace, stability, and development.
At a press briefing, spokesperson Guo Jiakun called for calm, describing India and Pakistan as “important countries in South Asia.”
“China calls on the two sides to exercise restraint, properly handle differences through dialogue and consultation, and jointly keep the region peaceful and stable,” he said.
The United Nations Security Council has condemned the attacks, reaffirming that terrorism in all its forms constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.
The council stated that those responsible must be held accountable and called on all states to act in accordance with their obligations under international law.
