The remains of Benue-born Nationalist and Second Republic Minister for Steel Development Paul Unongo, who passed away on 29 November 2022 have been laid to rest in his hometown, Unongo Village, in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.
President Bola Tinubu who was at the burial ceremony, urged Benue political leaders to emulate Unongo’s forgiving spirit and work towards unity.
Two years after his passing, Elder statesman and Second Republic Minister for Steel Development, Wantaregh Paul Unongu, was finally laid to rest at his country home in Turan, Kwande local government area of the State, attracting dignitaries from across the country.
Topping the list is the country’s number one citizen, President Bola Tinubu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

While reflecting on the life of the late nationalist, State Governor Hyacinth Alia called for unity amongst leaders and their supporters as no society can thrive in an atmosphere of conflict.
Late Wantaregh Paul Unongu passed on the 29th of November 2022 in Jos Plateau State at the age of 87.
