Trump to announce decision on TikTok

The Trump administration’s decision on the sale of TikTok to an American buyer will be made public before the deadline.
Vice President JD Vance gave the indication on Thursday as concerns grow in the United States over the fate of the short-video social media platform.
Vance confirmed that discussions on the sale are ongoing, stating that President Donald Trump will announce the outcome of the negotiations.
“It’ll be revealed before the deadline. We’re going to keep working on it,” the vice president said in an interview on Fox News.
“We’ve got a couple of days to continue working on it, to finalise some things,” he added. “We’re going to let the president announce whatever we ultimately decide.”
TikTok, owned by ByteDance, faces a ban in the U.S. after officials raised concerns over China’s influence and its ability to extract data from Americans.
Jeff Bezos’s Amazon has reportedly joined the bid, competing with a consortium led by OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely, mobile tech company AppLovin, and a group including Oracle.
China will need to approve any deal sanctioned by Trump, who is expected to extend TikTok’s sale deadline if an agreement is not reached this weekend.
