UEFA Champions League: Liverpool Qualify For Last 16 After 2-1 Win Over Lille

Liverpool secured their place in the UEFA Champions League last 16 on Tuesday after an entertaining 2-1 win over 10-man Lille

Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott got the goals for the home side while Jonathan David got the equaliser

With the victory, Liverpool have made a bold statement in the Champions League and need just one more point to finish top of the league phase.

Meanwhile, Lille are 11th in the table and still have the chance to join Liverpool in the last 16.

Both teams have domestic matches to prepare for before next week’s deciding Champions League matchday.

Lille will travel to face Strasbourg in Ligue 1 on Saturday while Liverpool face Ipswich a few hours earlier at Anfield.

Lille will face Feyenoord at home while Liverpool will also play against a Dutch team, travelling to Eindhoven to face PSV.

Barcelona also secured a spot in the Champions League last 16 with an incredible comeback finish through a 96th-minute 5-4 winning goal from Raphinha.

Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez was the hero for a 10-man Atletico Madrid side with two second-half goals for a crucial 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen

Bologna also defeatedBorussia Dortmund 2-1 while Club Brugge played a goalless draw against Juventus. PSV recorded a 3-2 away win over Crvena zvezda whileSlovan Bratislava lost 1-3 at home to Stuttgart
