Valentine’s Day: Nigerians urged to prioritize safety against HIV

The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA)has called on Nigerians to prioritize safety and responsibility to curb the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections during this year’s Valentine’s Day

Director General of NACA,Temitope Ilori, in a statement said HIV remains a serious public health concern, but is preventable through avoiding risky behaviour such as unprotected sex, multiple partners, or substance use that impairs judgment.

She emphasized the need for informed decision-making and responsible behaviour while encouraging Nigerians to incorporate regular HIV testing into their healthcare routine as a crucial step towards protecting themselves and others.

The agency noted that HIV prevention tools are readily available and urged the public to make maximum use of them.
