Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State on Saturday revealed that progress has been made in the search for the murderers of a popular stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, Thomas Godwin.
He asserted that he was sure the murderers would soon be apprehended and made to face the law.
Thomas Godwin, a well-known political figure in Hong Local Government Area, was few days ago waylaid and hacked to death by yet to be identified killers believed to be assassins hired by political enemies.
Fintiri on Saturday visited the Hong paramount ruler, the Tøl Huba, Alheri Nyako as well as the family of the slain PDP stalwart.
The governor vowed that the slain politician would get justice.
“I assure you that as Chief Security Officer of the state, I must make sure I unravel all that is involved in the killing of this young man.
“And I want to assure you that we’ve started the investigation and we have started seeing the pointers. Very soon, the perpetrators will be brought to book,” Fintiri said.
He said such killings have no place in a state working hard to ensure that peace prevails at all costs, and urged the family and the people to take solace in God.
Speaking on resurgence of insurgent attacks around Hong LGA, the latest being in Bangah and Damna, the governor said that with the support of the Huba Chiefdom and the collaboration the government is working out with the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Chiefdom and the state will have maximum security.
