The World Health Organisation (WHO) has urged Nigeria and other member states to raise taxes on sugary drinks, alcohol, and tobacco by at least 50 per cent over the next decade, as part of efforts to curb the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and strengthen health financing.
