Woman, 69, arrested after mum-of-four is found st@bbed to d3ath in France

A 69-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of British mother-of-four Karen Carter, 65, in southwestern France.Karen (pictured above) was discovered on Tuesday evening, April 29, outside a home she owned and rented out in the quiet village of Trmolat, east of Bordeaux. She had suffered five stab wounds to her breast, groin, arm, and leg injuries described by prosecutors as signs of “ferocious violence and a clear intent to kill.”Sylvie Martins-Guedes, the public prosecutor for Bergerac, confirmed the suspect is a local woman known to the victim. “She is part of the couples circle,” the prosecutor said, referring to Karen and her husband Alan Carter.Karens body was found near her car by a friend who had spent the evening with her. The couple had owned the property for around 15 years. Alan, who was not in France at the time, learned of his wifes death from a phone call with his cousin in the UK.The victim was well-known in the area. Residents of Trmolat, a picturesque Dordogne commune popular with British expats, were left stunned. “Everyone is in total shock,” said a local resident. “Karen was a delightful, energetic person who got on with everybody. Nobody can understand how something like this could happen in such a peaceful place. Were all locking our doors its deeply unsettling.” Karen has been described in local media as an active and well-liked member of the community.
