The Benue State Government has urged parents and caregivers to prioritise vaccinating children as it remains the sure way to protecting future generations from the risks of polio.
State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Yanman Ortese made the call during a Press Conference to commemorate the 2024 World Polio Day in the State
Ait.live reports that a walk through major roads of Makurdi, the Benue State capital, by critical stakeholders in the health sector along side international partners, to mark the 2024 World Polio Day, terminated at the State Secretariat.
While appreciating what he termed the invaluable support of its partners to achieve some level of success in the fight against Polio, the Health commissioner encouraged guardians to visit the nearest health facilities for routine immunizations to reach the State’s goal of being Polio free.
Yanmar Ortese equally called on other stakeholders to remain vigilant, innovative by dispelling myths and misconceptions about vaccines and reinforce confidence in the Ministry’s immunisation programmes.
As the 2024 World Polio Day theme projects, it remains for everyone to do everything humanly possible, to save lives and future generations through immunisation.
