A group of irate youths on Thursday, attacked a Fulani settlement in Kemenji Village, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
They accused the inhabitants of the Fulani settlement of colluding with bandits in the kidnapping and killing of locals.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, disclosed this in a post on his X handle on Friday.
Makama said he was informed by intelligence sources that the youths, led by one Ibrahim Bature, stormed the Fulani camp and set a number of huts ablaze before fleeing the scene.
“Upon receiving the report, The Nigerian Army troops in collaboration with the police answered other security agencies swiftly stormed the area to prevent further escalation.
“The security team succeeded in restoring normalcy, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the ringleader and other suspects who are currently at large,” Makama said.
He added that the security agencies assured that the situation is under control and warned against taking the law into one’s hands, reiterating the commitment of security agencies to safeguarding lives and property in the area.
