Edo Gov. Says Council Chairmen Impeachment Within The Law

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo says the actions of councilors who have impeached their local government chairmen over allegations of corruption are fully within the law.

The governor made the remarks during a meeting with acting chairmen and councilors from the three senatorial districts of the state who came to pledge their loyalty to the new administration.

The acting chairmen recently took office following the impeachment of former council bosses, who were removed over allegations of fund mismanagement, among other issues.

Governor Okpebholo assured the new leadership that he would fully support their efforts to succeed and drive local development.

The spokespersons for the chairmen across the three districts gave speeches pledging their loyalty to the Okpebholo administration.

Governor Okpebholo also promised to visit the local governments soon to encourage what he described as rapid development at the grassroots.
