As another farming season approaches, farmers and herders have been urged to peacefully coexist to ensure that the season is successful for all as no meaningful progress can take place in the midst of crises.
The General Officer Commanding the 3rd division of the Nigerian Army and commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Folusho Onyilola, made this known in Mangu local government area of Plateau State during a meeting with stakeholders to consolidate on the relative peace that has been achieved in the area.
Major General Oyinlola noted that Mangu, which is a large farming community, cannot be allowed to slip back into crises, as that will lead to disruption in crop production, which will have a ripple effect across the nation, so all hands must be on deck to ensure that lasting peace is achieved.

Representatives of the various communities identified land grabbing, isolated killings, and night and underage grazing as some of the factors affecting the full return of peace to the area and called for the resettlement of communities that have been displaced.
On its part, the Plateau State government is appealing to the communities to embrace peace, as the crises are hindering development from reaching certain areas in the local government.
Calls were also made for communities to expose criminal elements within them and provide useful information to law enforcement agencies to help them nip issues in the bud.
