Resident Doctors at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, UNIMEDTH in Ondo, Ondo State, South-West Nigeria have commenced an indefinite strike over poor conditions of service, non-payment of salaries and non-implementation of the new minimum wage.
The Doctors claimed that they have been overstretched leading to resignation of many of their colleagues while some have left without notification over the poor conditions of service.

The Resident Doctors want the State Government to expedite action on the payment of all outstanding salaries and allowances and the provision of conducive accommodation within the hospital premises with employment of Doctors to increase manpower across the medical facilities.
Reacting, the State Commissioner for Health, Banji Ajaka while urging the medical personnel to return to work assured that all issues raised by the Resident Doctors will be attended to by the government in due course.
