Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has officially announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)citing persistent and unresolved internal crises that have weakened the party’s position as the main opposition in Nigeria.
In a call for action, Nwoko on Wednesday urged the Senate to set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the crisis within the PDP, stressing the need to safeguard opposition politics in the country.
Jubilation among APC senators as Sen . Ned defects to APC
Ned Nwoko’s shift from PDP to APC may not be unconnected with the high-wire politics in Delta State.
There are strong indication that former Governor of Delta State and Vice-presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Ifeanyi Okowa is interested in the Senatorial Seat of Ned Nwoko.
Nwoko’s move to All Progressives Congress may have drawn a battle line between Okowa and Nwoko for the Delta North Senatorial seat in 2927.
